#FutureInYourHands – This motto properly describes how TÜV SÜD empowers its employees. It’s best to hear from TÜV SÜD executives and staff members what their personal experiences are working for TÜV SÜD.
Can you describe your role within TÜV SÜD?
I am an Account Executive for Industrial and Consumer Products for our Testing Division, located in our state-of-the-art testing lab in New Brighton, MN. In my role, I work with clients to find out their wants, as well as work with services lines, like EMC, GMA, and wireless to generate quotes and complete testing. If there are any questions from customers surrounding a quote, I arrange conference calls with experts in order to provide the customer with accurate answers. I ensure clients get the services they need in a timely fashion and make sure the entirety of the process runs smoothly.
What drew you to a career with TÜV SÜD?
I’ve been working in the Testing, Inspection and Certification industry for quite some time. I was immediately drawn to TÜV SÜD during my first interview with my manager, Karen Grantham. She was genuine, straight-forward and impressed me with her commitment to a creating a well-rounded team culture. The facility was also very impressive, and the notion of being surrounded by EMC and Safety engineers working on numerous client projects was alluring. The variety of products that come in for testing is fascinating.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I thoroughly enjoy helping client’s products meet the needs of the market they are actively pursuing. I also like holding meetings with clients and TÜV SÜD subject matter experts to learn the goals of the client and how TÜV SÜD can be their trusted advisor from design concept to market.
What is your driving mission in this role?
In this role, I aim to not just meet expectations, but exceed them. I highly value the trust that I have earned from both my colleagues and clients.
How have you had to adjust your responsibilities due to the COVID-19 pandemic?
While I am not going into the lab as often, I do occasionally participate in face-to-face meetings and lab tours. Working remotely has enabled me to schedule more conference calls and virtual meetings, both internally and externally, so I can ensure my client’s requests are met. I’ve also been regularly using social media to form connections for new business opportunities.
Are there any challenges you've faced during your career that have taught you important lessons?
I believe attitude is everything. When faced with a new challenge, I am eager to find a solution, so that I can continuously learn as I grow in my career. I’ve also learned that it is essential to always ask questions and be open to new opportunities.
When not working, how do you spend your spare time?
I love food and wine. Since my friends and I cannot go out to restaurants right now, we’ve started having virtual gatherings using Zoom, so we can still stay connected.
