#FutureInYourHands
#FutureInYourHands – This motto properly describes how TÜV SÜD empowers its employees. It’s best to hear from TÜV SÜD executives and staff members what their personal experiences are working for TÜV SÜD.
Can you discuss your role within TÜV SÜD?
As an Account Executive for our Consumer Products Division in the Mid-West Region, I primarily cover southern Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Michigan. Companies who are seeking compliance, either domestically or internationally, rely on myself and the engineering team at TÜV SÜD to provide guidance, collaboration and oversight to meet their objectives and stay on budget and on time. As the hub of communication for my clients and the TÜV SÜD team, I coordinate with engineers on both sides: building relationships, scope of work documentation and quotes, as well as keeping open lines of communication to ensure a smooth and positive outcome.
What drew you to a career with TÜV SÜD?
As an employee of a competitor, I was drawn to the close team mentality and working relationships TÜV SÜD cultivated in the company culture. I had previous relationships with both Karen Grantham and Doug Hughes, leading me to make the career leap.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
As a valuable resource and trusted advisor, I take great pride in client satisfaction. Compliancy can be confusing and difficult for companies, and I take on difficult projects and complicated processes to make it seamless and easier resulting in return business and strong relationships. Many clients are not only looking for the service TÜV SÜD has to offer, but also the education and understanding of all that is possible with regards to safety and compliance. I am dedicated to establishing the working relationships that cultivate confidence and satisfaction for all my client’s projects currently and into the future.
How have you had to adjust your responsibilities due to the COVID-19 pandemic?
Territory development of new and existing customers, relationship building, and opportunity discovery are vital aspects of any Account Executive’s role. My first year with TÜV SÜD included a lot of travel and face-to-face meetings. In March, this came to a halt and I had to readjust my approach, resulting in video conferencing with engineers and clients to ensure we met customer objectives and requirements. My team has responded to the challenges of the “new normal” with grace and professionalism. I am grateful to work with this talented team.
Do you think current events will have an impact on the future of the industry?
It is my belief that the world will see short-term impact to every industry. However, from a long-term perspective, testing and compliance measures continue to become more and more stringent as countries impose stronger safety requirements. TÜV SÜD provides an essential service that all products will be required to endure, as the human race continues to develop the world’s future technologies in a much safer way than they have in the past.
When not working, how do you spend your spare time?
I am a happily married family man with five kids, four dogs, three goats and 14 chickens. I enjoy spending my time hunting, golfing and taking my family out on our boat on the weekends.
