The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) consists of 7 member states located in Middle East. Manufacturers wishing to export electrical and electronic products to the member states of the GCC must ensure compliance with the Gulf Technical Regulation.

The electrical equipment must bear the "Gulf Conformity Mark" before placing on the market to demonstrate compliance with the regulation. The regulation is put in place to provide assurance that the products are safe, of good quality and fit for consumers’ needs.

Regulations

GSO published Gulf Technical Regulation for Low Voltage Electrical Equipment and Appliances and the full enforcement came on the 1st of July 2016, this Technical Regulation deals with safety essential requirements and EMC.
There are two lists for two categories of electrical equipment depending on their degree of hazard to persons, property and environment referred to as list (1) and list (2).
The Manufacturer shall affix the GCC Conformity Marking in accordance with the relevant Gulf Technical Regulations and requirements to each individual electrical equipment that is in conformity with the requirements of the Gulf Technical Regulations in force.

GUIDELINES

The manufacturer shall establish the Technical Documentation, which shall make it possible to assess the conformity of electrical equipment to the relevant requirements, and shall include an adequate analysis and assessment of risk.

If equipment in list (1):

The Manufacturer shall draw up a written Declaration of Conformity for each electrical equipment Model if the electrical equipment in list (1).

If equipment in list (2):

The manufacturer shall lodge an application for the Gulf-type examination with a Notified Body if the electrical equipment in list (2).

List (1) product categories:

All products which falls out of List (2) and under LVD will be in consider as List (1) product.

Air conditioners
Centrifugal clothes dryers and Clothes washing machines, including machines which both wash and dry freezing equipment
Domestic electric heating apparatus
Domestic Electrical Fans
Electric instantaneous or page-content water heaters and immersion heaters
Electric smoothing irons
Electro-thermic hair-dressing apparatus and hand dryers
Food grinders and mixers, fruit or vegetable juice extractors
Microwave ovens
Other ovens; cookers, cooking plates, boiling rings, grillers and roasters
Plugs, Socket outlets, adaptors, cord extension sets and chargers
Refrigerators, freezers and other refrigerating or freezing equipment
Toasters
