What is energy efficiency testing?

An energy efficiency test from TÜV SÜD shows that equipment meets increasingly stringent standards for consumption by energy-using goods. An energy efficiency check assesses a wide range of products – from consumer electronics to toys to household appliances – and measures how much energy they consume while running, on standby and when turned off, among other tests. TÜV SÜD is equipped to test and certify energy-using products to global energy efficiency certification standards through its global Energy Efficiency Centres of Excellence.

Why energy efficiency testing is important

Regulatory requirements and consumer expectations are driving the demand for electrical equipment and appliances that have been tested and verified by an independent third party for their energy efficiency. Appliances that demonstrate greater energy efficiency than comparable products are more widely accepted by regulators and consumers. They enjoy an important advantage in a competitive marketplace.

How TÜV SÜD can help you with energy efficiency testing

TÜV SÜD’s energy efficiency verification services have been developed to support the efforts of manufacturers, importers, and retailers to achieve compliance with energy efficiency regulations and voluntary energy efficiency programmes.

Our Energy Efficiency Centres of Excellence make us qualified to provide testing and energy efficiency certification services for all types of electrical equipment and appliances.

We are a recognised testing and certification body in compliance with US, Canadian, EU and other laws.
