What is CE marking?

CE stands for Conformité Européenne, which translates from French to English as ‘European Conformity’. CE marking states that a product meets the requirements of all applicable EU directives. While CE marking can be carried out by the manufacturer for some products, others must be tested by a company that offers CE marking services.

TÜV SÜD provides companies around the world with CE mark testing, and can also create technical documentation that proves your products are compliant.

Why our CE marking service is important

The CE mark is an internationally recognised symbol of product safety and compliance, facilitating global market access. Adhering to CE marking standards can enhance the safety and reliability of your product, minimising the risk of failures and increasing customer satisfaction.

CE certification and a CE declaration of conformity means that your product can enter the European Union (EU) market. It also allows free movement throughout the European Economic Area, giving you direct access to over 500 million consumers. If a product that should display a CE mark is found not to have one, the manufacturer or distributor could be fined and face an expensive product recall, so compliance is essential.

How TÜV SÜD’s CE marking service can help you

TÜV SÜD is an EU Notified Body authorised to evaluate product compliance with the requirements of most EU directives and regulations. Our testing services span the complete range of requirements for product acceptance in the EU against the essential requirements of directives.
