Your access to global markets in a single step with our CB certification

What is the CB Scheme?

The IEC System for Conformity Assessment Schemes for Electrotechnical Equipment and Components (IECEE) Certification Body (CB) Scheme is the world’s first international system for the mutual acceptance of product safety test reports and certificates for electrical and electronic equipment, devices and components. Based on the use of internationally-accepted product safety standards, the CB Scheme relies on a global network of CB testing laboratories (CBTLs), who are responsible for testing products to applicable technical standards. Product test results are then submitted to national certification bodies (NCBs) in CB Scheme member countries, who can authorise legal access to CBTL-tested products without additional testing.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF THE CB CERTIFICATION SCHEME?

Frequently asked questions (faq) about iecee cb scheme

  • What are the steps involved to get CB Scheme certification?

    Three simple steps:

    • The manufacturer applies to a National Certification Body (NCB), such as TÜV SÜD, for a CB test certificate.
    • The NCB works with authorised CB testing laboratories (CBTLs) to determine if the product satisfied IECEE requirements.
    • CBTL issues a CB test report and NCB issues a CB test certificate to the manufacturer, if the product complies.
  • What standards are covered by the CB Scheme

The CB Scheme is based on international IEC standards. For a complete list of standards operated by the IECEE CB Scheme, you can find it from this link.

  • What products are covered by the CB Scheme?

The IECEE CB scheme address the safety, quality, efficiency and overall performance of components, devices and equipment for homes, offices, workshops, health facilities among others. In all, IECEE covers 23 categories of electrical and electronic equipments:

    • Electromagnetic compatibility
    • Safety transformers and similar equipment
    • Portable tools
    • Miscellaneous
    • Installation accessories and connection devices
    • Switches for appliances and automatic controls for electrical household appliances
    • Photovoltaics
    • Installation protective equipment
    • Low voltage, high power switching equipment
    • Cables and Cords
    • Industrial Automation
    • Electrical Vehicle
    • Capacitors as components
    • Energy Efficiency
    • Hazardous Substances
    • Electric Toys
  • What is the difference between the CE marking and IECEE CB certificate?

There is no comparison between CE marking and the CB Test Certificate.

The CB Test Certificate is issued based on third party testing of samples of the products against a published IEC standard, while the CE marking is a regulatory marking to enter the European market and constitutes a declaration by the manufacturer that the product complies with the essential requirements as set in the directives.

  • Does the CB scheme have its own product mark or symbol

CB scheme does not have its own product mark or symbol.

  • How can you tell if the electrical product is CB scheme certified?

You may search for the certified model in Online Deliverables (OCS IECEE) website’s URL: https://certificates.iecee.org/#/home
