In accordance with the Telecommunications Law of Legislative Decree No. 48 of 2002, all telecom equipment imported into the Kingdom of Bahrain shall be subject to the Type Approval Regulation before it is made readily available in the local market.

All Type approval applicants must be local commercially registered companies.

Air conditioners within the scope of the standard GSO 2530/2016 shall meet the Minimum Energy Performance Standard (MEPS) as stipulated in the ministerial decree (70/2015) issued by MOICT of Kingdom of Bahrain.

A Bahrain EER energy efficiency label shall be affixed on the approved product according to the requirements of GSO 2530/2016 before placing the product in the kingdom of Bahrain market.
Guidelines

A valid Gulf Type Examination Certificate is required to be submitted as evidence of conformity with the Essential Requirements on Safety and Electromagnetic Compatibility of the Gulf Technical Regulation for Low Voltage Electrical Equipment and Appliances.

Test report should be issued by accredited laboratory according to GSO 2530/2016 or laboratory accredited by the Gulf Accreditation Center.
