    REGULATIONS

    • The appointment services and legislation development team has prepared the general guide for the appointment of conformity assessment bodies within the implementation plan of the technical regulation of the conformity system issued by Ministerial Resolution No. 190/2021.
    • DGSM implements the technical regulations for the new Omani Conformity Scheme, the 1st stage came into force on June 5, 2022. Products subject to these regulations need to obtain certification from a Notified Body designated by the DGSM.

    GUIDELINES

    • Products must test with safety and EMC standards.
    • Manufacturers need to prepare product design and risk analysis documentation.
    • Conformity certificates are valid for one year.

    REGULATIONS

    • Air conditioners within the scope of the standard GSO 2530/2016 shall meet the Minimum Energy Performance Standard (MEPS) as stipulated in the ministerial decree (107/2018) of the Sultanate of Oman.
    • Manufacturers exporting air conditioners to the Sultanate of Oman are required to register the air conditioners with the Oman Authority and affix the Energy Efficiency Rating label on the registered product.

    GUIDELINES

    • Once Oman authority approves the application for registration in the online system, an Oman EER energy efficiency label will be issued in electronic format for the product.
    • The manufacturer shall affix the energy label on the approved product according to the requirements for GSO 2530/2016 before placing the product in the Sultanate of Oman market.

    Regulations

    • Registered importer shall only sell telecommunications equipment type approved by the TRA: all telecommunications sold and used within the Sultanate must carry the TRA Approval label.
    • All equipment must comply with the substance restriction requirements of the RoHS (EU Directive 2017/2102).

    Guidelines

    The General documents required for a type approval application are:

    • Declaration of conformity
    • Electromagnetic capability (EMC)
    • Safety Report
    • Radio frequency test reports (For the radio operating devices)
    • SAR test report (for the GSM Mobiles)
    • Any other test report might be required 

    Applicable product categories

    The categories of the telecommunication devices required to be type approved are: GSM Mobile, Wireless Access devices, Short range devices, Microwave devices, Other radio equipment, Radars, Handheld Radio devices, Other terminal equipment, Switches, Telephone set, PAPX Servers
