Regulations

• According to Resolutions No. 16/2025, No. 17/2025 and No. 26/2025, to be traded in Argentina, electrical and electronic low voltage equipment must have a certificate that proves that they meet the essential safety requirements.
• As published in Resolution 237, S-mark will be effective until: 28/03/2025, in this date all products will be marked with another new conformity marking with QR code.

• Compliance with IEC standards.

Guidelines

• Manufacturers need to apply to IRAM and submit essential documents for safety approval.
• Testing should be conducted to IEC standards for electrical and electronics equipment.
• Initial and subsequent annual factory inspections are required for safety certification.

Resolution 16/2025 establishes the technical regulation for below category/type of electrical products:

• Household Electrical Appliances
• Lighting Devices
• Electronic, Audio and Video Devices

Resolution 17/2025 establishes the technical regulation for below category/type of electrical products:

• Machines and tools powered by motors
• Low voltage machines and tools

Ente Nacional de Comunicaciones (ENACOM)

Regulations

• ENACOM issued Resolution 57/2026 to update the telecommunication equipment registration process, which will be implement from 1 September 2026.
• Testing for Class A products must be conducted exclusively in the laboratories recognized by ENACOM in Argentina. Testing for Class B products can be in ENACOM recognized laboratories or third party laboratories evaluated by the Certification Body or factory laboratories evaluated by the Certification Body or international laboratories accredited by a signatory of the Global Accreditation Cooperation.
• Existing ENACOM certificates will receive a three‑year validity extension, remaining valid until 26 February 2029.
• Product should bear RAMATEL ID after type approved. Online marketplaces must display the RAMATEL ID.

Guidelines

• A local representative is required.
• The Argentine importer or distributor must be registered with ENACOM in order to obtain certification.
• Approved equipment will be listed on the ENACOM website.

Regulations

Energy efficiency:

To be marketed in Argentina, household appliances within the scope of Resolution 319/99 must include a label stating their energy consumption level, to be determined using test methods indicated in the applicable IRAM standard.

Guidelines

• The law requires the information to be provided in a brochure and included with the instruction manual.
• Efficiency is rated from A to G, with A being the most efficient.
