THAILAND: ESTABLISHMENT OF INDUSTRIAL STANDARD TIS 344 ON LAMPHOLDERS FOR TUBULAR FLUORESCENT LAMPS AND STARTERHOLDERS

On 26 January 2021, the Thai Ministry of Industry issued Announcement No. 5989, 2021, which establishes Industrial Standard TIS 344-2562 on Lampholders for Tubular Fluorescent Lamps and Starterholders based on the Industrial Product Standards Act.

This standard specifies the technical and dimensional requirements for lampholders for tubular fluorescent lamps and for starterholders. Testing methods of electrical safety are also set out in this standard. The detailed applicable products are independent lampholders, lampholders for building-in, used with tubular fluorescent lamps provided with caps in accordance with Annex A,  independent starterholders and starterholders for building-in, used with starters in accordance with TIS 183. These lampholders and starterholders are intended for use in AC circuits with operating voltage up to 1 000 V r.m.s.  Lampholders for single-capped tubular fluorescent lamps integrated in an outer shell and dome are tested in accordance with the listed clauses of IEC 60238.

The standard outlines the product scope, definitions, testing requirements, marking requirements, dust resistance, waterproof,  insulation resistance, resistance to heat and fire, etc.

The standard becomes mandatory with effect from 28 January 2022.
