Korea: Technical standards amendment on radar wireless equipment for vehicle collision prevention

On 30 August 2019, the South Korean Ministry of Science, Information Technology and Future Planning published and implemented the amendments to the Unlicensed Radio Equipment Regulation (Notice No. 2008-74) and the Technical Standards for Unlicensed Radio Equipment (Notice No. 2018-4).

The amendment is mainly to update provisions on radar equipment for vehicle collision prevention. In the amendment to Notice No. 2008-74, conditions for frequency use and antenna power supply of the wireless equipment is changed from "76-77GHz and below 10mW" to "76- 81GHz and below 20mW".

Furthermore, the amendment changes the technical standards for spurious emissions as well as updates Article 10 on conditions for undesignated wireless devices in the 262-264 MHz frequency band. The amendments are in force on 30 August 2019.
