TÜV SÜD National Engineering Laboratory are the custodian of the UK National Standards for Flow and Density

TÜV SÜD National Engineering Laboratory is the UK’s Designated Institute for flow measurement. As such, we are one of the UK’s National Measurement Laboratories and a key part of the National Measurement System. This places us at the forefront of research into flow measurement at a UK, European and global level.

How do TÜV SÜD National Engineering Laboratory carry out FLOW MEASUREMENT Research & Development?

We undertake significant research and development work for companies around the world and have academic research partnerships with a number of leading UK universities.

We work as R&D partners with some of the world’s leading companies, including oil and gas operators, energy companies and meter manufacturers. We support companies with basic scientific research and help them to develop their systems and technology and to bring new products to market. Our facilities and research and consultancy expertise provide our industry partners with a proven competitive advantage.

As a National Measurement Laboratory, we also carry out industrial development research on behalf of the UK government. As part of this work, we are developing commercial solutions for sectors such as Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) and alternative fuel measurement (hydrogen and LNG).

TÜV SÜD National Engineering Laboratory has played a central role in European flow measurement research for many years. Current European research in our field is delivered primarily through the European Metrology Programme for Innovation and Research (EMPIR). EMPIR coordinates research projects to address key industry challenges and focuses on innovation and accelerating the uptake of research outputs.
