Delivering real business benefits across key segments
Meeting global market entry requirements for marine products is becoming increasingly complex, with the European Union (EU) alone having almost 40 different regulations governing maritime products and services. Determining which regulations apply to your equipment can therefore be challenging, and manufacturers whose products are not certified by a reputable third-party testing and inspection body risk being denied entry into world markets.
TÜV SÜD has been active in marine products testing for more than 20 years, with our global network supporting customers with their test and certification requirements. We are a Notified Body under the EU’s Marine Equipment Directive (2014/90/EU), Radio Equipment Directive (2014/53/EU) and EMC Directive (2014/30/EU), as well as a UK Approved Body for Radio and Marine. We also undertake regulatory tests for other international bodies, such as ISED Canada, Radio Technical Commission for Maritime Services (RTCM) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Accredited to perform type approval work on a wide range of equipment operating across VHF, MH/HF, AIS, 406 MHz, 243 MHz and 121.5 MHz frequencies, TÜV SÜD is one of only four laboratories in the world authorised to perform search and rescue beacon testing on behalf of Cospas-Sarsat.
TÜV SÜD’s global network of experts cover all main world markets, working in your local language. With over 150 years of product and process expertise and more than a century in the safety and quality business, TÜV SÜD is the marine equipment test and certification partner you can trust.
