IEC 60945 is an international standard which specifies minimum performance requirements, methods of testing, and required test results for maritime navigation and radiocommunication equipment and systems. This includes:
IEC 60945 covers a range of EMC, environmental and safety testing. As marine equipment is subject to extremely harsh operating conditions, shipbuilders and end customers will usually reject untested products outright. Manufacturers whose products are not tested and certified by a reputable third-party will therefore find it extremely difficult to access the marine equipment market and acquire customers.
TÜV SÜD’s globally accredited laboratories (DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025) have one of the largest environmental testing portfolios in the world. Our experts have been conducting climatic testing and mechanical shock and vibration testing on marine equipment for over 50 years. We are also one of the world’s largest electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing service providers. Our experts deliver a highly flexible service to fit with your business needs and time to market goals, as accredited testing can either be performed at our advanced test laboratories or off-site at your premises.
TÜV SÜD’s test facilities can simulate either single or multiple environmental conditions simultaneously. Any test not on our UKAS scope, but which is within our capability, can be added quickly through our flexible schedule, which is a rare privilege granted to us by our accrediting authority.
Our test capabilities include:
The impact of AIS international standards and requirements, and what manufacturers need to do to get past these hurdles.
