Our new Advanced Multiphase Facility has the largest test range of any such facility anywhere in the world, positioning Scotland as a world leader in this area of research.
Dry & Wet Gas Calibration Facility
TÜV SÜD National Engineering Laboratory’s Gas Flow measurement facility offers test and calibration for both dry and wet gas flows. It is the UK’s only independent test centre that can generate wet gas flows using water and oil simultaneously. As such, flows accurately replicate the real-world conditions faced by industry. The facility reduces the uncertainty and financial exposure that operators experience.
Multiphase Flow Measurement Testing Facility
TÜV SÜD National Engineering Laboratory operates the UK National Standard Test Facility for multiphase flow measurement. The facility can vary quantities of oil, water and gas to accurately replicate the three-phase flows encountered in the oil and gas industry. This enables testing and evaluation of new technologies for today’s subsea production environment.
This is currently the only facility in the world accredited to ISO17025. Traceable to national measurement standards, the facility provides equipment manufacturers and operators access to an independent laboratory for development, calibration and validation purposes.
Produced Water Facility
TÜV SÜD National Engineering Laboratory has a purpose-built produced water test facility for testing and evaluating the performance of oil-in-water measurement devices. The facility can be used to test and evaluate the performance of online oil-in-water and solid-in-water monitors for produced water management.
Erosive Flow Centre
TÜV SÜD National Engineering Laboratory’s Erosive Flow Centre provides a complete range of sand erosion tests. Independent tests can be performed on a wide range of equipment and components under controlled conditions. In addition, we have extensive capability to use Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) (link to CFD Modelling page) to predict high erosion areas (hot spots) and erosion rates. By modelling a range of expected field operating conditions, the wear-life of equipment or components can be assessed.
