Mexico: Implementation of Mexico's NOM-001-SCFI-2018 deferred by 3 months to 14 August 2020 

JUNE 2020 – RELEVANT FOR: ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS

Mexico's Ministry of Economy has announced that Standard NOM-001-SCFI-2018 for Electronic devices – safety requirements and test methods will now be implemented on 14 August 2020. The announcement was published in the Official Gazette on 14 May 2020 which was the day that Standard was initially scheduled to be in force.

This is due to the insufficient number of accredited certification bodies and approved testing laboratories for implementation of the Standard. The Ministry is considering extending preparation time for the establishment of national conformity assessment to meet the demand of laboratory testing and certification services in the country.

New certifications with updated standard might be issued possible if labs and certification bodies have completed their accreditation.
