Thailand: Establishment of Industrial Standard TIS 60335/2(8)-2564 for Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-8: Particular Requirements for Shavers, Hair Clippers and Similar Appliances

On 21 February 2022, the Thai Ministry of Industry published Announcement No. 6280, 2022, establishing industrial standard TIS 60335/2(8)-2564 household and similar electrical appliances - safety - part 2-8: Particular requirements for shavers, hair clippers and similar appliances, based on the Industrial Product Standards Act. 

This announcement repeals the previous announcement of the Thai Ministry of Industry which established the Industrial Product Standard TIS 1555-2550 (12 September 2007), on specific testing requirements for shavers, hair clippers, trimmers and electrical appliances with similar characteristics.
The Standard TIS 60335/2(8)-2564 applies to shavers, hair clippers and similar appliances with a voltage up to 250V. It does not apply to:

• Appliances intended for use in explosive or corrosive atmospheres etc. 
• Massage appliances (IEC 60335-2-32)
• Appliances with a medical purpose (IEC 60601)

The standard also indicates scope, definitions, general requirements, testing methods, marking and labelling rule, and durability, performance and malfunction requirements.

This announcement is in force from 21 June 2022, 120 days after the date of publication in the Government Gazette.
