USA: ASTM updates F2179 - Standard specification for annealed soda-lime-silicate glass containers   

MARCH 2020 – RELEVANT FOR: HARDLINES 

On 01 March 2020, ASTM updated ASTM F2179-14 to F2179-20¹. 

The main focus of the update was to narrow the scope and define what is not covered; 
This specification now applies only to filled candle containers and does not apply to other glass accessories used for candles, such as votive holders, hurricanes, and glass holders used with free-standing candles. 

The remainder of the updated standard was also reworked in its verbiage with new definitions of candle container, glass manufacturer, etc. now given in Section 3.3. Other affected sections are  
4.1.1 and 4.1.2 for annealing, where the remarks for containers that are further processed is removed and underneath a new Section 4.3 Secondary Glass operation is added.
