Korea: Revision of Some Korean Industrial Standards (KS) for Electrical Appliances
FEBRUARY 2023 - ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS

On 3 February 2023, the South Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) published the revision of several electrical appliances under Korean Industrial Standards (KS) so that they are harmonized with IEC international standards.
The revised standards are listed as follows:
- KS C IEC 60335-2-3 Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety - Part 2-3: Particular requirements for electric irons;
- KS C IEC 60335-2-25 Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety - Part 2-25: Particular requirements for microwave ovens, including combination microwave ovens;
- KS C IEC 60335-2-6 Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety - Part 2-6: Particular requirements for stationary cooking ranges, hobs, ovens and similar appliances;
- KS C IEC 60335-2-75 Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety - Part 2-75: Particular requirements for commercial dispensing appliances and vending machines;
- KS C IEC 60665 A.C. ventilating fans and regulators for household and similar purposes - Methods for measuring performance;
- KS C IEC 60436 Electric dishwashers for household use - Methods for measuring the performance;
- KS C IEC 60704-2-5 Household and similar electrical appliances - Test code for the determination of airborne acoustical noise - Part 2-5: Particular requirements for electric thermal storage room heaters;
- KS C IEC 60335-2-82 Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety - Part 2-82: Particular requirements for amusement machines and personal service machines;
- KS C IEC 60704-2-1 Household and similar electrical appliances - Test code for the determination of airborne acoustical noise - Part 2-1: Particular requirements for dry vacuum cleaners, etc.
The above standards specify the updated definitions, scopes, requirements, test methods, and international standards for reference, etc.
This notice will be in force on 3 February 2023.
