India: Announces telecommunication equipment categories under MTCTE Phase-VI
MARCH 2025 - ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS
On February 25, 2025, the Indian Department of Telecommunications issued a notification detailing the types of telecommunication equipment covered under Phase VI of the Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipment (MTCTE) scheme.
Standards and Conformity Assessment
For the telecommunication equipment listed in the second column of the schedule attached to this notification, the applicable standards will be the Essential Requirements set by the Telecommunication Engineering Centre, as specified in the third column of the schedule.
Regulatory Compliance Effective August 2025
Starting from August 24, 2025, the import, sale, distribution, or use of the following telecommunication equipment listed in the schedule will be prohibited unless it complies with the Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipment requirements established by the Telecommunication Engineering Centre:
- Cellular Customer Premises Equipment
- Fixed Wireless Phone with VOICE and DATA-Facility
- Fixed Wireless Phone with Voice Facility Only
- Storage Area Network (SAN) Switch
- Fabric Interconnect Switch
- Network Security Management Equipment
- Network Security Analytics Equipment – Managed
- Network Security Analytics Equipment – Unmanaged
- Content Security Equipment
- DDoS Protection Equipment
- Malware Analysis Equipment
- Web Application Firewall
- NGSO User Terminals
- NGSO Integrated Gateway
The specified standards in the schedule will take effect from August 24, 2025.
For the purpose of this schedule, the latest versions of standards issued by the Telecommunication Engineering Centre or the National Centre for Communication Security, including any amendments, will be applicable from the date notified by these regulatory bodies.
