BRAZIL: APPROVING TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR CONFORMITY ASSESSMENT OF SMART TV BOXES IN ACT NO. 9281, 2023
JULY 2023 - ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS
On 13 July 2023, Brazil's National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) published Act No. 9281 which approves the applicable technical requirements and conformity assessment for smart TV boxes.
These requirements apply to smart TV boxes which are terminal equipment intended for audio-visual content through Internet and displaying it on another device with a screen. The exempted equipment are personal computers, televisions, mobile phones, tablets, and pay-tv equipment.
The product must comply with the applicable standards listed below:
- Technical Requirements for the Conformity Assessment of Restricted Radiation Radiocommunication Equipment, approved by Act No. 14448, of December 04, 2017.
- Technical Requirements of Electrical Safety for Conformity Assessment of Telecommunications Products, approved by Act No. 950, of February 08, 2018.
- Technical Requirements of Electromagnetic Compatibility for the Conformity Assessment of Telecommunications Products, approved by Act No. 1120 of February 19, 2018.
- Cybersecurity Requirements for Telecommunications Equipment, approved by Act No. 77 of January 05, 2021.
The Management responsible for the conformity assessment process, considering the evolution of the access and distribution of audio-visual content, may publish, on the Anatel website, a list of other types of products that may or may not be classified as a smart tv box.
This Act enters into force on 13 July 2023 and implementation date is 11 September 2023.
