You’ve worked in both Germany and the U.S. How has this international experience shaped your professional growth?
Thomas Hüttner: Moving from Munich to Denver was a huge adjustment, but it taught me to embrace change and adapt to new environments. I learned to manage teams across different cultures and regions, which has broadened my leadership skills.
What motivated your move from Germany to the U.S.?
Thomas: I wanted to see more of the world and challenge myself professionally. Moving to the U.S. gave me the opportunity to gain international experience and work in a different cultural context.
How has working in the U.S. influenced your leadership style?
Thomas: In the U.S., I've experienced more freedom and autonomy in decision-making. I enjoy leading my own team with less rigid structures than I was used to in Germany, which has helped me grow as a leader.
What role does personal growth play in your career journey?
Thomas: Personal growth is key to my career. Moving out of my comfort zone regularly helps me perform at my best. Whether it’s changing locations or taking on new responsibilities, these challenges keep me motivated.
How do you balance personal interests, like your love for the mountains, with your professional life?
Thomas: My work allows me to live in places that offer the lifestyle I enjoy, like Colorado. I’m passionate about outdoor activities, and being able to balance work with these personal pursuits keeps me energized and focused.
What is one of the biggest lessons you've learned from working in different regions?
Thomas: One of the biggest lessons is understanding and respecting different cultural nuances. Each region has its own approach to work and communication, and adapting to these differences has been essential to my success.
How has your experience shaped your perspective on failure?
Thomas: I used to fear failure, but over the years I’ve learned that failure is part of growth. It’s important to take risks, try new things, and learn from the outcomes, whether they’re successes or setbacks.
What advice would you give to someone looking to grow personally and professionally?
Thomas: Stay open to new opportunities and don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Personal and professional growth go hand in hand, and taking on challenges will help you discover what you’re truly capable of.
