Comply with NEBS requirements

Network Equipment Building System (NEBS) refers to a set of network telecommunications equipment documents developed to ensure safety and reliability in telecommunications networks. There are two main documents which define the requirements for equipment destined for a Central Office and a third which defines the criteria levels. Testing against the below criteria is a prerequisite for products intended for use in a Central Office.

  • Telcordia GR-1089 Electromagnetic Compatibility and Electrical Safety criteria.
  • Telcordia GR-63 Spatial and Environmental criteria.
  • Telcordia SR-3580 NEBS criteria levels.

Our NEBS testing services

TÜV SÜD's lab in Kanata, ON Canada, is ISO 17025 accredited for NEBS testing, staffed by NEBS program managers with over 20 years of NEBS experience, and equipped for the following test types:

  • EMC (Electro-Magnetic Compatibility) testing to GR-1089 with 10M and 3M semi-anechoic EMC chambers.
  • Safety and Power testing to GR-1089.
  • Environmental testing to GR-63 with 10 climatic chambers.
  • Shock and Vibration testing to GR-63 with 2 electro-dynamic shaker tables.

Because of the size, power consumption and complexity of modern telecommunications products, we have installed a unique 10M EMC chamber with two movable turntables in separate shielded rooms so that system set-up, tear-down, and re-configuration can be performed “off-line” while the chamber is being used to test another product. This reduces testing time and cost.

    • Our 10M EMC chamber has a filtered variable 100V DC 600A power supply for high power systems.
    • Our climatic chambers can cool a system dissipating 10,000W to -40oC.
