IS0 26262 Automotive Functional Safety Training Courses

Why is ISO 26262 Automotive Functional Safety Important?

ISO 26262 is an international standard for functional safety in the automotive industry. The standard applies to electrical and electronic systems comprising vehicle hardware and software components. It defines the requirements to be met by the safety-relevant function of the system as well as by processes, methods, and tools used within the development process.

It was first published in 2011 and was limited to electrical and electronic systems in series production passenger cars up to 3500kg. In 2018, the second edition brought all road vehicles except mopeds into scope.

ISO 26262 is a risk-based standard – meaning that the risk of hazardous operational situations is qualitatively assessed, and safety measures are defined to avoid or control systematic failures and to detect or control random hardware failures or mitigate their effects. A key goal is to provide the industry with an automotive-specific, risk-based approach for determining risk classes – the ASIL or Automotive Safety Integrity Level.

Why is it essential for an individual to have Functional Safety Training in ISO 26262?

ISO 26262 Functional Safety Training and Certification Program trains individuals with the technical knowledge and practical experience to understand road vehicle safety-related systems. When individuals have complete knowledge of safety-related systems, they can take more informed steps on the ground and avoid mishaps and risks.

This would ensure steps are taken at the initial stages and avoid any undue limitations at later stages that would lead to saving both time and money. It would also ensure the highest level of employee, company and customer satisfaction.
