Simulate climactic and mechanical stresses faced by products over their projected lifetime

Ensure ProDucts Perform In Various environmental Conditions

Environmental testing simulates the different climatic conditions and mechanical stress that products are exposed to during their lifetime. As a result, these tests expose weaknesses in a product’s design or performance that could occur in service, particularly at extreme levels.

In general, environmental tests demonstrate that your products have the build quality to work perfectly, no matter what the conditions. During testing, possible weaknesses can be identified and product improvements can be initiated at an early stage.

Environmental testing also helps demonstrate compliance of your products with international regulations, making it easier to access global markets, and also boosts trust in your products.

our testing puts even the most complex products through their paces

Environmental Testing ServicesWith TÜV SÜD as your partner, you can be confident that your testing needs are covered, no matter how complex your product is or to which industry sector it belongs to. With globally accredited environmental testing laboratories (DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025), we verify the fitness for use of components, technical equipment and products.

Our facilities can simulate either single or multiple environmental conditions simultaneously. Our climatic chambers cover the extremes of temperature, altitude, humidity, temperature cycling, solar heating and corrosive atmospheres, which are continuously monitored by independent computer-controlled data collection systems.

Our vibration shakers produce a range of profiles including; sinusoidal, random, sine on random, gunfire and bump among others, which are controlled and monitored by state of the art equipment and software.

  • RTCA/DO-160 and EUROCAE/ED-14

RTCA/DO-160 is published by RTCA, Inc., a global organization comprised of industry and government representatives which develop industry standards to assure the safety and reliability of all Aviation Electronics equipment (Avionics). Manufacturers of Commercial Avionics equipment selling their products in the United States, Europe, and around the globe must meet RTCA requirements, including RTCA/DO-160. The European Organization for Civil Aviation Electronics (EUROCAE) works jointly with RTCA in the development of avionics standards, and publishes its own, identical document known as EUROCAE/ED-14. TÜV SÜD is a member of RTCA and participates in the development and ongoing change of this standard.

  • MIL-STD-810

MIL-STD-810 specifies the requirements and test procedures for equipment that must survive and operate when exposed to the extreme effects of the physical environment. Testing includes temperature, humidity, vibration, shock, sun, fungus, etc.

  • Accelerated Life Testing (HALT)

HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Testing) is an accelerated testing procedure that tests your product's overall durability and dependability. HALT also provides insight into your product's structural integrity and highlights potential design flaws before the product is mass-produced and marketed. This enables your company to make a durable product that is second to none. In testing, your product is subjected to different levels of applied temperature (hot and cold) and multi-access vibrations. Overall your product can be tested for years of dependable service within days.
