ABOUT INMETRO certification

INMETRO (National Institute of Metrology, Standardization, and Industrial Quality) is Brazil’s standards body. It requires manufacturers and suppliers to have their products tested and certified by a recognized Certification Body, who apply their own mark (i.e., TÜV SÜD’s mark) as well as the INMETRO seal of approval. TÜV SÜD is accredited as a Certified Body to provide INMETRO certification.

INMETRO covers many consumer and industrial products, including electrical and electronic products, medical devices, household appliances, and automotive components.

5 steps to INMETRO certification

We take you through a step-by-step process to ensure your product is fully certified to be marketed and sold in Brazil:

1. Product safety testing performed by TÜV SÜD, an independent third-party organization.
2. Factory inspection and assessment to ensure compliance of the manufacturer’s production process.
3. Technical analysis of technical documentation.
4. On ascertaining proof of compliance, we issue a certificate as well as authorization for the use of INMETRO’s Compliance Identification Seal.
5. Regular certification maintenance is conducted – including tests and factory surveillance.
