UNECE Regulation No. 100 details safety requirements for the electric power train of road vehicles. The recently published Revision 3 of the Regulation imposes a number of updated and new requirements upon manufacturers of rechargeable electrical energy storage systems (REESS) designed for use in motor vehicles manufactured, sold or operated in the European Union and other countries. This white paper offers an overview of R100 and introduces some new and modified requirements for manufacturers of REESS and rechargeable batteries for electric vehicles.
