The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of the Republic of Korea has published a partial amendment to its food additive codes and standards.
According to a posting to the Selerant Compliance Cloud website, the “Partial Amendment of the Korea Food Additives Code/Korea Food Additives Standard and Specification (No.2019-71),” revises the usage standards for 13 different food additives, as well as the scientific name of origin material for 59 separate natural food flavourings. The amendment also revises the ingredient specification and test method for 6 food additives.
Notably, the partial amendment merges the former categories of “infant cereal products” and “other infant products” into a single category, named “infant weaning food.” To support this change, the amendment also revises the usage of 11 food additives to align with the new categorisation.
Further information on Korea’s partial amendment regarding food additives can be found at the Selerant website here. Specifics are also available at the MFDS website here.
