Smart Glass Remote Survey Capabilities

TÜV SÜD Global Risk Consultants (GRC) is the leading unbundled property loss control provider worldwide, offering a complete portfolio of services including: Fire Protection Engineering, Boiler & Machinery Engineering, Infrared Thermographic Surveys, Jurisdictional Boiler & Pressure Vessel Inspections, Natural Hazards Analysis, Diversified Services and Loss Control Training.

TÜV SÜD Global Risk Consultants may enable above mentioned services remotely with a technology add-on using smart glasses or mobile devices. This enables remote participation during site visits and surveys and includes real-time video call technology, video and photography recordings and documentation.

Thanks to the remote survey approach, customers may choose to participate in site surveys remotely to experience the risk assessment process in real-time. Also, it may be possible that customer engineers can be connected to TÜV SÜD GRC consultants to discuss the risk findings and recommendations which gives customers a better flexibility in time and cost savings.

The remote survey service comprises of three main steps:

1. Technical Analysis and Site Permission

This step is the preparation step that needs to be completed before planning a remote survey at a customer site. The customer site should have the necessary conditions where remote services are possible and feasible. The requirements include internet availability and quality, data security and privacy levels of the site. When these conditions meet the customer’s and TÜV SÜD GRC expectations, the service can be enabled for remote participation.

2. Survey Execution

According to the initial step, the survey should be run and completed by providing access to the remote participants through smart glasses with a high-quality point of view.

The real-time communication and collaboration give insights to participant who cannot be present onsite for TÜV SÜD GRC Site Surveys, so that they can communicate and collaborate in real-time with the onsite group. Experts can be brought together regardless of time and location globally. That has a great potential of higher quality work due to active feedbacks and inputs as well as huge time and cost savings due to lack of travels and CO2 footprints.

3. Reporting and Documentation

TÜV SÜD GRC delivers a very detailed property loss control report with relevant findings and recommendations. If the site visit is completed with a remote approach by utilization of smart glasses and digital technology, it is easier and faster to take note of findings and recommendations with multimedia outputs such as photos and videoclips. This gives customers and their stakeholders additional perspective about the risks and outcomes of implemented recommendations.
