California Energy Commission Title 20 Compliance Testing

Requirements for Lighting Products

Requirements for Lighting Products

California Energy Commission Title 20 requirements apply to covered lighting products when they are sold or offered for sale in California.

Title 20 standards apply to specific types of lamps regardless of whether they will be used indoors or outdoors. However, there are some exemptions and requirements that are specific to certain outdoor lamps.

Products that meet the definitions section must be tested in accordance with the relevant section 1604(k) of Title 20. Compliant products must be registered with the Energy Commission’s Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDBS).
