Bring safety to an explosive atmosphere
Bring safety to an explosive atmosphere
Electrical, electronic and mechanical equipment intended for use in potentially hazardous environments must contribute to the overall safety of that environment. The IECEx System is a voluntary compliance system designed to assess and certify multiple aspects of potentially hazardous environments. As not all countries participate in the IECEx scheme, manufacturers must also ensure compliance with country-specific national certification or approval, for those nations which are not part of the scheme.
If you manufacture or utilize equipment or systems for use in explosive atmospheres, you’ll need to provide proof that all required safety and compliance standards have been met. An IECEx Certificate of Conformity (CoC) for manufacturers requires the following steps:
The IECEx Certified Equipment Scheme operates an online certificate system. All CoC’s issued are maintained on the IECEx website. This enables full public access for viewing and printing.
For countries that don’t accept the IECEx CoC but require national certification or approval, a fast-track process is available. This can be achieved through TÜV SÜD, who is also an IECEx ExCB, accepting an IECEx ExTR prepared for the equipment to support the national certification. If you’re an Ex equipment manufacturer seeking an IECEx CoC, TÜV SÜD can prepare the ExTR, conduct the QAR and issue the CoC.
Countries participating in the IECEx Certification Scheme are Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Republic of Korea, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America.
