Radio Equipment Directive (RED) 2014/53/EU Certification

Comply with RED 2014/53/EU to gain access to the EU radio equipment market

Manufacturing Standard for Radio Equipment

The EU’s Radio Equipment Directive (RED) 2014/53/EU was introduced in 2016 to establish manufacturing standards for radio products relating to their health and safety, EMC and efficient use of the radio spectrum. Manufacturers and distributors of radio equipment who wish to sell to the EU’s 500 million consumers must prove their compliance by affixing a RED 2014/53/EU CE mark to their products.

Radio equipment covers a growing array of products, from broadcast radios and television receivers to garage door openers and residential monitoring systems. To legally sell these products in the EU and European Economic Area (EEA), manufacturers and distributors must ensure their product displays a CE mark. Failure to do so may result in fines, products being banned and recall.

Dr Simon Hindle – Taking Radio Products Through Compliance

During a recent interview Simon discusses the compliance requirements for radio products, covering various topics such as; what requirements you are likely to face, regulatory frameworks, considerations for products with RF modules and the importance of selecting the right module manufacturer.
