Ensure reliability with Automotive EMC Testing

Today’s automotive systems contain many more active electronic components than in the past. Those components and assemblies may emit RF noise or be affected by external sources of energy. This can result in unanticipated changes in system operation.

Most of today’s vehicle rely on active devices, microprocessors, and vehicle communication networks for control of vehicle functions, entertainment systems and legislated requirements such as tire pressure monitoring. Because complex control systems require a high degree of robustness EMC testing for systems and components is critical to insure proper operation.

Our global network of testing labs and industry experts use the latest industry methods to support all necessary OEM Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) requirements for materials, durability, shock & vibration, electrical, and EMC performance testing. TÜV SÜD is your single source for testing and certification services that will accelerate your time to global markets.

Component EMC Testing is primarily carried out at the TÜV SÜD laboratory located in Plymouth, MI, which is recognized as an approved laboratory by Ford, GM, JLR & Stellantis. However, we can also provide automotive EMC testing in our Auburn Hills, MI lab.

In our New Brighton, MN lab, we can perform developmental testing, component testing as well as vehicle testing using the dynamometer installed in the larger 10m EMC chamber.

Our automotive EMC testing services include:
  • Whole vehicle EMC testing
  • Electronic Sub-Assemblies (ESAs) testing
  • Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)
  • Bulk Current Injection (BCI) Immunity
  • RF Radiated Immunity (RI)
  • Conducted Emissions (CE) and Radiated Emissions (RE)

TÜV SÜD’s automotive EMC labs are accredited to ISO 17025 and can help ensure your automotive electrical/electronic systems and sub-assemblies comply with global OEM and industry EMC standards.

TÜV SÜD is accredited to test and certify to most industry and manufacturers' EMC standards:
