The certification mark applies to the electromagnetic fields of electrical devices, such as lamps, radio and television sets and Computers.
The certification mark is based firstly on the EN 62233 standard. This standard defines a method for measuring the electromagnetic fields of household appliances and similar electrical devices. The measurement determines the safety of people exposed to electromagnetic fields. Secondly, the certification mark is also based on the EN 62493 standard. This standard includes the requirements for the electromagnetic fields of lighting equipment and their effects in the case of human exposure.
EMF is short for electromagnetic fields which are generated, for example, whenever an electrical device is connected to a power supply. The TÜV SÜD certification mark with the statement “EMF” is awarded to products with electromagnetic fields that pose no risk to human safety and health.
