CHINA: EQUIPMENT ELECTRICALLY CONNECTED TO A TELECOMMUNICATION NETWORK STANDARD GB 38189-2019

NOVEMBER 2019 - ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS

China Standardisation Administration (SAC) and China State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) issued this standard on 14 October 2019.

This standard is applicable to telecommunication network connection equipment under any power supply. Comparing with the old product safety standard, this updated version is aimed to reduce the potential hazards from the telecommunication network.

This standard focuses on three aspects:

• Guaranteeing the safety of the maintenance staff and other staff of communications network who may be harmed by the equipment on the network;
• Guaranteeing the safety of the staff who may be harmed by the voltage induction;
• Guaranteeing the safety of communication wiring system which may be damaged by the overheating.

Particular requirements shall be enforced on the equipment used under extreme situation and electronic medical device connected with the patient’s body directly.

This standard will be into force on 1 November 2020.
