Thailand: Establishment of industrial standard TIS 60799 on electrical accessories - cord sets and interconnection cord sets

On 7 February 2025, Thailand’s Ministry of Industry has issued Announcement TIS 60799, establishing updated safety and performance criteria for electrical cord sets and interconnection cord sets used in households and general-purpose settings.

Scope:

• Applies to cord sets and interconnection cord sets designed for residential or similar environments.

Exclusions:

• Industrial cord sets compliant with IEC 60309.
• Cord extension sets.

Compliance Clarifications:

• While flexible supply cables with rewirable plugs/connectors are not classified as cord sets under TIS 60799, they must still meet relevant provisions of the standard.

Key Requirements:

• Safety specifications for continuity, polarity, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
• Detailed definitions, general technical criteria, and application scope.
