CHINA: CATALOGUE OF PRODUCTS SUBJECT TO COMPULSORY PRODUCT CERTIFICATION PUBLISHED

On 5 September 2023, the Chinese State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) published Announcement No.36, 2023 to release the catalogue of compulsory products for CCC certification. 

The Announcement is a revised version based on the previous catalogue. The Compulsory Product Certification Catalogue covers 16 categories of products and 96 products in total.

The 16 categories of products are listed as follows: 

• Wires and cables;
• Circuit switches and electrical devices for protection or connections:
• Low-voltage electrical appliances;
• Small power motors;
• Electrical tools;
• Electric welding machines;
• Household and similar use equipment;
• Electronic products and safety accessories;
• Lighting appliances;
• Vehicles and safety accessories;
• Agricultural machinery products;
• Fire-fighting products;
• Building materials products;
• Children's products;
• Explosion-proof electrical; and
• Household gas appliances.

The detailed product list refers to the Annex 2 - Compulsory Product Certification Catalogue Description and Definition Table (Revised 2023), where 7 products are outlined and marked with *, which indicates that Self-Declaration Procedure A, where the products are subject to type tests in a non-designated laboratory and self-declaration, should be adopted. In addition, the table also specifies 12 products marked with ** that should follow Self-Declaration Procedure B, where the products are subject to tests done in a designated laboratory and self-declaration. 

The Announcement entered into force on 5 September 2023, repealing Announcement No. 18, 2020 on the same topic.
