On January 23, 2025, China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) issued updated regulations for energy efficiency labelling applicable to household and similar-use microwave ovens. These rules, aligned with Standard GB 24849, establish minimum energy efficiency thresholds and grading criteria for qualifying products.
Scope:
The regulation covers household and analogous microwave ovens, including combination models, with a maximum input power of ≤2500W and operating at the 2450 MHz ISM frequency band. It excludes commercial/industrial units, models with integrated hoods, and those not using resistive heating elements to heat food or objects within the oven cavity.

The rules take effect on February 1, 2025, replacing the prior standard CEL 023-2017, and will remain valid until 2030.
