ABOUT THE IEC 60086 battery standard

IEC 60086 is an international standard that encourages battery manufacturers to ensure that their batteries are interchangeable according to standard form, fit and function. Interchangeability means the battery can be used in a much wider range of products, meaning you can boost adoption – and revenue, as a result. This fact helps end users, as well as manufacturers of devices that use your batteries. Certification to the IEC battery standard shows that a battery complies with the standard.

  • Primary Battery with Aqueous Electrolyte – standards IEC/EN 60086-1,IEC/EN 60086-2, IEC/EN 60086-5 are intended to standardize primary batteries with aqueous electrolyte with respect to dimensions, nomenclature, terminal configurations, markings, test methods, performance, safety under intended use and reasonably foreseeable misuse and environmental aspects.
  • Primary Lithium Battery for Watches – standards IEC/EN 60086-1, IEC/EN 60086-3, IEC/EN 60086-4 are intended to standardize primary lithium watch batteries with respect to dimensions, nomenclature, terminal configurations, markings, test methods, performance, safety under intended use and reasonably foreseeable misuse and environmental aspects.
