On March 1, TÜV SÜD awarded its first ISO 21448:2022 Safety of the Intended Functionality (SOTIF) Process Certificate in Greater China to Guangzhou ASENSING Technology Co., Ltd (hereafter refer as: ASENSING). This confirms ASENSING met the requirements for intended functional safety risk control and management as specified by the standard, providing reliable assurance for ASENSING's technological innovation in smart sensors.
To enhance the safety of intelligent connected vehicles, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) officially released ISO 21448 in 2022. This standard focuses on controlling scenarios and trigger conditions that pose risks to life safety due to inadequate design of intended functionalities within reasonable and acceptable limits. Currently, ISO 21448 certification has become one of the industry-recognized core certifications for the safety of intelligent connected vehicle products.
During the certification ceremony, ASENSING announced that it had obtained ISO 21448 SOTIF Process Certificate just one year after the standard's release. Prior to this, ASENSING had also earned ISO 26262 Functional Safety Project Practice Certification and Product Certification. ASENSING has now implemented a dual-authority process system that aligns with both functional safety and intended functional safety standards, to offer consumers assurance of safety.
TÜV SÜD has announced that this marks its first ISO SOTIF Process Certificate in Greater China region specifically for high-precision positioning. This certificate validates ASENSING's ability to develop SOTIF processes and sets the groundwork for its future compliant product development endeavors. TÜV SÜD is eager to collaborate with innovative industry players such as ASENSING to advance safety and development collectively.
