Corporate leadership anchored in responsibility
Corporate leadership anchored in responsibility
Sustainability is a multi-faceted issue It affects the services we deliver to our customers and also plays a crucial role in our corporate governance. We have focused both our internal and external activities on trustworthiness and integrity. These twin values are our bedrock, at the heart of what we do. Also integral to our transparent and responsible corporate leadership are the clear principles and rules that apply throughout our organisation. They provide the framework for our activities. Mindful of our responsibility for the future, we consistently assess this framework and implement adjustments as needed.
Part of this involves embedding sustainability in all relevant corporate policies. We have now revised a host of policies to incorporate the topic of sustainability from a variety of perspectives. These new policies provide guidance for our employees’ entrepreneurial activities.
Compliance with all applicable laws and international regulations and dealing fairly with our stakeholders—including our business partners, employees, and competitors—are always at the forefront of our corporate philosophy. Our compliance policy counteracts potential breaches and risks from the outset by raising employee awareness, educating the workforce, and establishing appropriate processes. TÜV SÜD’s compliance management system (TÜV SÜD CMS) provides the organisational basis for compliance with applicable laws.
The whistleblowing system is a key component of the TÜV SÜD compliance program. Employees and external third parties can submit reports and complaints relating to breaches or suspicious cases from around the world via an internet-based whistleblowing portal, the TÜV SÜD Trust Channel. This portal is available in 19 languages to all TÜV SÜD employees as well as to customers, suppliers, and other third parties. Here, whistleblowers can set up a protected electronic mailbox for anonymous and secure communication with the TÜV SÜD Global Compliance Team.
The TÜV SÜD Group operates an integrated management system (IMS), details of which are set out in the TÜV SÜD Corporate Management Manual. The IMS incorporates requirements from various management system standards as well as human rights and climate and sustainability management requirements. The Corporate Management Manual details all related regulations and policies and describes the strategic and organisational direction of the company. It is binding across the entire TÜV SÜD Group and is developed further in the individual companies, divisions, and regions.
Quality management (QM) is a core constituent of TÜV SÜD’s integrated management system and is the mandatory prerequisite for all the many national, European, and international authorisation and qualifications that are essential for the company’s recognition as a testing, inspection, and certification (TIC) organisation. TÜV SÜD currently holds over 800 accreditations and further recognitions worldwide, which are regularly monitored by supervisory bodies. To uphold them, third-party auditing at one or other of our locations is an almost weekly occurrence!
The requirements and processes of our quality management system assure our ability to provide our services at a consistently high quality level and ensure long-term continual improvement of our quality standards. A key constituent of our QM, the Global Quality Platform is a platform for sharing information and engaging in dialogue. We hold mandatory global digital training programs for all our employees. Our customers’ trust is crucial to our success, and we need to earn it anew every day by upholding the highest quality standards and by placing reliability, safety, and certainty at the centre of our service offerings.
