PCF:
A product carbon footprint (PCF) claim is the amount of greenhouse gases emitted through a defined part of a product’s life cycle – often from the sourcing of the raw material to the point of leaving the production site. Reducing the PCF helps to lessen the impact of climate change on our planet.
PCF verification:
Through verifying the PCF, TÜV SÜD confirms the truthfulness of the resulting emission value, stated in CO2 equivalents.
Verification date:
The verification date on the mark is the date where TÜV SÜD issued the verification statement. Due to technical limitations, this date is only stated as year and month.
ISO/IEC 17029 – Verification:
A verification process according to the internationally accepted standard ISO/IEC 17029 ensures the trustworthiness of the verified claim, here the product carbon footprint value, resulting in the statement “PCF result verified”. Therefore, a customer can be certain that the PCF claim is of the highest possible quality.
PCF based on ISO 14067:
The ISO 14067 describes how a PCF must be calculated and reported. This document is taken as assessment criteria for the verification, meaning we assure that the PCF was correctly calculated and reported according to this standard.
ISO 14064-3:2019
ISO 14065:2020
ISO/IEC 17029:2019
ISO 14067:2018
The carbon footprint claim of the client’s footprint is verified by TÜV SÜD and therefore we confirm that the PCF claim is truthfully stated.
