Certification mark "Toxic tested" for stationery and office supplies

Certification mark "Toxic Tested" for stationery and office supplies

Scope:

The certification mark applies to products which primarily involve chemical hazards,  including stationery and office supplies. These products are tested for hazardous substances.

Basis of certification:

The certification mark is awarded within the framework of voluntary testing and certification. Certification is based on product-specific standards and test programmes.

The tests are based on various directives and standards including (EC) No. 1907/2006 (REACH Regulation on the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals), AfPS GS 2014:01 PAH on the testing and evaluation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and Regulation (EC) No. 850/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning persistent organic pollutants (POPs).

For stationery and office supplies, testing for safety and hazardous substances is additionally based for example on the Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC.

Key words of the certification mark:

  • Toxic tested

For the statement “Toxic tested”, TÜV SÜD tested the product for hazardous substances and verified that any harmful substances present in the product complied with or remained under the relevant limits. The test is based on legal requirements, with TÜV SÜD defining even stricter criteria in some cases.

Product-specific chemical requirements and further requirements from the TÜV SÜD test programme are used for testing. They are identified on the certificate in question.
