Certification mark for Tire repair material

Scope:

The certification mark applies for tire repair material relating to different attributes like durability (high speed, endurance, low temperature) and user Manual.

Basis of certification:

The test mark is awarded within the framework of voluntary testing and certification. The test procedure developed by TÜV SÜD is based on numerous standards such as UN ECE-R30, ECE-R54 and ECE-R75. Tires are used as utility to perform the tests with added repair material.

Execution of tire repair only by technicians with expertise depending on national requirements!

Keywords of the certification mark:

  • Production monitored

Periodic surveillance and/or monitoring of the manufacture of a product constitutes the basic premise for certification that includes the award of a certification mark. Certification always requires product testing and regular factory inspections.

As a third-party expert organisation, TÜV SÜD Product Service verifies that the manufacturer is able to maintain consistent quality in line with the requirements throughout high-volume production and has established the necessary quality system, including incoming goods inspections, lists of materials and final product testing.

In addition, calibration of the necessary measuring and monitoring equipment must be ensured. Surveillance and/or monitoring covers the testing of safety-critical components and other materials used. If unauthorised changes are made to the product, the certificate will become invalid and the TÜV SÜD certification mark may no longer be used.

  • High-speed durability

The tests are based on high speed tests named in ECE-R30 (passenger car), ECE-R54 (commercial vehicles) and ECE-R75 (motorcycles) for tires. Test criteria are basing on evaluated test tires as utility to ensure durability at higher temperature caused by speed.

  • Endurance

Tires with repair material are rolled on a drum test rig to evaluate the mechanical durability.

  • Low temperature

Tires with repair material are stored with mounted wheel in a climate chamber at minus 25°C for a given timeframe. Directly after conditioning the tires are rolled on a drum test rig up to max. speed of the tire to evaluate durability at quick changing temperatures.

  • User manual

The user manual is checked basing on TÜV SÜD criteria to check minimum requirements.
