Certification mark for ski bindings Z2_113
Scope:
The certification mark applies to ski-binding systems, and thus ski bindings combined with a special ski construction (rail systems)
Basis of certification:
The certification mark is awarded within the framework of voluntary testing and certification. The test programme developed by TÜV SÜD is based on standards including ISO 9462 (Alpine ski bindings – Requirements and test methods) and ISO 8364 (Alpine skis and bindings – Binding mounting area – Requirements and test methods). The strength and functionality of the ski-binding system was tested on the basis of these standards and the test programme.
Key words of the certification mark:
-
Völkl & Marker Motion Technology
This is the name of the ski-binding/ski system made by the companies Marker and Völkl
-
Binding & rail system tested
Völkl and Marker have developed a fully integrated ski-binding system called “Motion Technology”. This binding slides along two “rails” and thus forms an integral part of the ski. This has only a minor effect on the free flex (bending capacity and/or elasticity) of the ski.
Within the scope of the certification, TÜV SÜD carried out comprehensive product tests based on the above standards and an especially developed test Programme.
-
ISO 9462
Testing is based on the ISO 9462 standard (see Basis of certification), which defines the key safety requirements for ski bindings. The standard applies to alpine ski bindings for children, young people and adults.
-
ISO 8364
Testing is based on the ISO 8364 standard (see Basis of certification), which specifies the requirements and test methods for the binding mounting area and free space area, ski bindings and retention devices of alpine skis. The objective is to optimise the interaction between ski binding, retention device and ski boot.
-
Safety tested
The voluntary certification mark with the statement “Safety tested” is issued for products, indicating that the product was tested and certified by the independent third-party organisation of TÜV SÜD Product Service for conformity with the essential technical safety requirements.
-
Production monitored
Periodic surveillance of the manufacturer of a product constitutes the basic premise for certification that includes the award of a certification mark. Certification always requires product testing and regular factory inspections.
As a third-party expert organisation, TÜV SÜD Product Service verifies that the manufacturer is able to maintain consistent quality in line with the requirements throughout high-volume production and has established the necessary quality system, including incoming goods inspections, lists of materials and finished product testing.
In addition, calibration of the necessary measuring and monitoring equipment must be ensured. Surveillance and/or monitoring covers the testing of safety-critical components and other materials used. If unauthorised changes are made to the product, certificate validity will expire and the TÜV SÜD certification mark may no longer be used.
