The certification mark applies to permanently installed outdoor fitness equipment designed for people who enjoy exercise and want to lead an active life. The equipment design should therefore encourage a wide range of physical activities, including cardiovascular, strength and muscle training as well as balance and coordination exercises and stretching.
The test procedure developed by TÜV SÜD is based on the EN 16630 European standard. This standard defines general safety requirements for the production, installation, inspection and maintenance of permanently installed outdoor fitness equipment that can be accessed by the general public.
However, it does not apply to powered equipment, equipment for functional training (typically with movable weights) and military obstacle courses.

The voluntary certification mark with the statement “Safety tested” is issued for products, indicating that the product was tested and certified by the independent third-party organisation of TÜV SÜD Product Service for conformity with the essential technical safety requirements.
The certification criteria vary depending on the products in question. While the Focus in the case of a hair dryer, for example, is on electrical safety, the focus in the case of a car jack is on the mechanical characteristics.
