ISED Canada certification
We ensure compliance for your radio products for Canadian market access. TÜV SÜD BABT is an authorised Foreign Certification Body (FCB).What is ISED Canada certification?
ISED (Innovation, Science and Economic Development) Canada regulates the radio spectrum for all transmitters operated in the country. It defines the requirements for approval and certification of radio, consumer electronics, and communications devices. The ISED regulations covering radio devices are structured within RSS-GEN (General Requirements for Compliance of Radio Apparatus) which details ISED Canada certification procedures, including technical and administrative requirements.
Laboratories outside Canada can carry out the ISED Canada certification process because ISED Canada has appointed Foreign Certification Bodies (FCBs) worldwide. TÜV SÜD BABT is a Foreign Certification Body with the authority to evaluate product test reports and issue technical acceptance certificates on behalf of ISED Canada.
Why ISED Canada certification is important
Radio products can only be placed on the Canadian market once they comply with ISED Canada’s legal and technical requirements. After TÜV SÜD issues a Type Acceptance Certificate, ISED assigns an IC number, adds the product to the Radio Equipment List (REL), and authorises its release onto the market. Market access for Canada will be granted to radio product manufacturers who obtain the ISED Canada certification.
