Globally acclaimed internationally operating safety and quality expert TÜV SÜD has issued IEC 62443-4-1:2018 compliant Industrial Cybersecurity Certification to Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. (head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Yasuhiko Hashimoto).
Cyberattacks on industrial systems can result not only in business losses such as plant shutdowns and equipment damage, but also in loss of life and environmental impact. One security measure for the operational technology (OT) that controls and operates industrial systems is the international standard IEC 62443.
TÜV SÜD has issued Industrial Cybersecurity Certification, compliant with IEC 62443-4-1:2018, to Robot Business Division, Precision Machinery & Robot Company, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. IEC 62443-4-1 specifies the secure product development life cycle requirements for control equipment manufacturers. This certification serves as proof of the company’s use of secure-by-design principles during its product development life cycle process; this approach incorporates a multi-layer defense against possible cybersecurity threats and ensures that product security issues, including vulnerabilities, are managed reliably.
TÜV SÜD Japan will continue to contribute to the promotion of OT security measures in Japan by offering a range of security-related services including certification and training.
