Professional vehicle photos thanks to AI: PhotoFairy app from TÜV SÜD with new features
With the PhotoFairy app, car dealerships can create professional vehicle photos in just a few minutes. TÜV SÜD has introduced new functions and is now also offering the solution for sale online.
High-quality and professional vehicle photos are a must for marketing. TÜV SÜD’s PhotoFairy smartphone app guides the user through the photo creation process and edits the images created using artificial intelligence (AI) in the shortest possible time and a highly automated manner. For example, the software professionally crops the vehicles and realistically adjusts each model in front of freely selectable backgrounds.
Simply buy PhotoFairy online
TÜV SÜD is launching the simple online purchase of PhotoFairy this year. In the online store, business and private customers can order and pay for their desired PhotoFairy package online. After selecting the appropriate credit package, users can choose a background and start taking photos of their vehicles immediately after downloading the app.
New features in the app
“We have further improved the app and can now offer even more options for the backgrounds, for example,” explains Ingmar Schüller, Product Manager Digitalization at TÜV SÜD. “The 3D representation provides a very realistic view of the vehicles. With the app, brand-bound dealers can meet all the manufacturer’s specifications for vehicle representation. By using AI, the entire process is very fast and reliable.”
Wide selection of backgrounds
The user can choose from different combinations of undergrounds and backgrounds.
In addition to the 2D display, 3D backgrounds are now also possible. “With the 3D display, the background changes accordingly when the vehicle is photographed from a different perspective,” says Ingmar Schüller. “This makes the view look even more realistic, and the perfect representation replaced the elaborate shots in a photo booth.” You can view a selection of different undergrounds, backgrounds, and 3D spaces on the TÜV SÜD website: photofairy.tuvsud.com/de/
How PhotoFairy works
The app guides the user through the entire process. Transparent overlays on the smartphone display immediately show the user from which angles they should photograph the vehicle. All image optimizations run automatically in the background. The processing of the photos can be tailored to the individual requirements of the user. For example, license plates can be blurred or marketing labels with dealer or brand logos can be displayed. After just a few minutes, the user received the edited images – either via a download link or automatically uploaded to the DMS.
“We have further improved the PhotoFairy app and can now offer even more options for backgrounds, for example. The app guides the user through the entire process and after a few minutes they receive the finished images.” - Ingmar Schüller, Product Manager Digitalization at TÜV SÜD
PhotoFairy 360°: All-round shots made easy
PhotoFairy 360° also makes it easy to create all-round shots of the vehicle – both from the outside and the interior. The exterior shots are taken with the smartphone via the app, which guides the user around the vehicle in a circle with a diameter of around eight meters. For the interior, the PhotoFairy 360° package includes a special camera for all-round shots of the interior which is placed on the center armrest (see slideshow). This creates professional and ideally illuminated impressions of the interior in just a few seconds. This is where another improvement to the app comes into play: “The interior clipping feature eliminates distracting image elements in the window areas when displaying the interior,” explains Schüller. “We blur the background when looking out of the window. This draws the eye to the interior, making restless or distracting backgrounds, such as those in parking lots, invisible.”
