Certification mark for TIREs
SCOPE:
This quality mark represents an overall performance level beyond legal requirements and at least compared to the state-of-the art or better in the related product segment.
BASIS OF CERTIFICATION (REQUIREMENTS):
The test program within the TÜV SÜD MARK scheme is basing on UN/ECE regulations and modern state of the art test procedures. During the certification common and relevant safety performance tests on wet and dry surface must be passed. Additionally, the measurement of rolling resistance and rolling noise are representing the environmental test criteria and an advances high speed test shall monitor the robustness of the candidate tire.
For 3 PMSF snow tires also the safety performance on snow surface is evaluated.
The applicant´s candidate tire will be compared to the average performance of at least 3 competitor tire makes representing the performance level well in the average of modern European tires.
The performance limits are set by TÜV SÜD Product Service and clearly exceed the legal requirements.
KEY STATEMENTS OF THE CERTIFICATION MARK:
Production Monitored
Periodic surveillance of the manufacture of a product constitutes the basic premise for certification that includes the award of a certification mark. Certification always requires product testing and regular factory inspections.
As a third-party expert organisation, TÜV SÜD Product Service verifies that the manufacturer is able to maintain consistent quality in line with the requirements throughout high-volume production and has established the necessary quality system, including incoming goods inspections, lists of materials and final product testing.
In addition, calibration of the necessary measuring and monitoring equipment must be ensured. Surveillance and/or monitoring covers the testing of safety-critical components and other materials used. If unauthorised changes are made to the product, the certificate will be withdrawn and the TÜV SÜD certification mark may no longer be used.
Rolling Noise
The lower the rolling noise is, the lower is the impact on the environment.
Rolling Resistance
The lower the rolling resistance, the better is the effect on fuel / electricity savings.
Wet and Dry Safety
Besides ECE regulations, state-of-the-art test procedures are used to compare the candidate tire with the average performance of at least 3 competitor tire makes representing the good performance level of modern European tires.
